Apple eyes gadgets with fixed solar panels

Apple has its eyeball on the sun as a supply of energy for iPods.

Company workforce have applied for a patent relating to powering electronic strategy using incorporated solar cells, the Patently Apple site has exposed. Called Power Management Circuitry with Solar Cells, the application dates back to August 2008 and was formally published Thursday.

In October 2006, a more universal patent beneath the title “Solar Cells on moveable Devices” was filed by at least one of the similar people. When that request was available in 2008, it was traced back to Apple iPod engineers.

Since an older patent asks for traced backside to Apple: an iPod with incorporated solar cells.

Rather than have a divide solar panel, the 2006 patent application envision a small device, such as an iPod, with a see-through solar cell on its surfaces.

solar_phoneThe more recent patent request deals with power electronics for managing electricity flow from multiple solar cells on a device. For illustration, the patent application outlines method for ensuring that there is enough voltage from solar cells to power the device or arraign its battery.

Revelation of the solar-power-related patent application comes a week after a patent application from Apple connecting to home energy organization surfaced. In that case, Apple engineers described a technique for powering multiple electronic strategies efficiently by means of a home’s wiring to administer the flow of power and data.
