Mozilla yanks grimy added extras, warns users

Mozilla on Friday pulled two programs on or after its Firefox browser add-on site for contain malware. Sothink Web Video Downloader 4.0 and all version of Master Filer were established to hold Trojan mount code aimed at Windows user.

In a blog post, Mozilla affirmed that the Master Filer add-on was clever to bypass AMO’s safety test.

Mozilla user CatThief exposed the threat, it said. Sothink Web Video Downloader contained Win32.LdPinch.gen, and Master Filer restricted Win32.Bifrose.32.Bifrose.

Master Filer was detached from Mozilla’s Firefox add-on site on January 25, and the Sothink video downloaded was uninvolved on Tuesday.

Sothink Web Video Download 5.5.90819 had been a humbly popular Firefox add-on at Download.com, in receipt of 697 downloads in the past week and 63,716 downloads given that it was first extra to the site in June 2007.

Since the Trojan horse programs are joined to Fire fox, Mozilla warns, horde computers won’t be contaminated until Fire fox in progress.
